Patient Information

Please read the information below for patients at Noosa Outlook Medical Centre.

Appointments

We use an appointment system, a standard face to face or telehealth(video encouraged over phone call) consultation is 20 minutes, longer consults can be arranged. We do not provide facilities for online bookings and do prefer a phone call to email as there are questions to be asked to determine the length of time required and urgency of your issue. A longer appointment may be required if you have multiple things to discuss, or your matter is complex. Mental Health Issues generally require a longer appointment. This information will help us determine an appropriate time frame and length of appointment required which in turn will assist our doctors in not running late with appointments. If the matter is urgent, or you are unwell and require an appointment on the day, we will do our best to assist. Please indicate these needs when you call. A Telehealth consult needs to have a consent via email.

Billing

Consultations and Procedures are privately billed or (or the GP may choose to bulk billed ie accept a lower fee that impacts the business running, through Medicare for patients registered with this Practice. We reserve the right to privately bill casual and initial consults for patients who are not Concession Card Holders or children over the age of 16 years. Medicals for Insurance, Pre Employment, Income protection, Commercial Driver’s Licenses are not covered by Medicare. We have EFTPOS available for the payment of Private Billing.

Telephone: 07 5292 5131. Address: 306a/90 Goodchap St, Noosaville.

Telephone Communications

Generally the Doctors do not take telephone calls whilst with another patient unless it is a matter of urgency. If the Receptionist is unable to assist with your query, your GP may return your call, but more usually, our nurse may talk to you. You may be required to make an appointment.

Email Communications

This practice is fully computerised and uses a system of Email and SMS messaging to communicate test results, recalls and appointment reminders. We do not encourage the practice of patients emailing the doctor with questions about their medical condition. NEVER email an urgent request. An appointment should be made to discuss the matter.

New Patients

The Practice is currently not in a position to take on New Patients. On occasions we are able to welcome one-off visitors to the Sunshine Coast and do our utmost to service your care needs while away from home.

Walk-in Patients

We have an appointment system at the practice and prefer patients book an appointment. Walk-in patients will be triaged by our nurse and offered an appointment appropriate to their condition. If it is not urgent, you may not be seen by a doctor on the same day.

Repeat Prescriptions & Referrals

There is a $20.00 charge for same-day repeat prescriptions, as we do request 24 hours notice. There is NO charge for Prescriptions associated with a Consultation. An appointment will be required when a patient has not been seen for a while. This allows for best medical practice whereby the condition and medication may need review on an ongoing basis. An appointment is also required for new and ongoing referrals as there is often information in regard to your current condition that needs to be conveyed to the Specialist.

Follow up of Test Results

When your test results have been received, the Doctor will contact you via phone, text or email (please be aware that your privacy and confidentially may be compromised when communicating via email without encryption). If you have not heard from us after 10 days you must ring to ensure that the result has not been missed.

Medical Certificates

A Medical Certificate is a statement that the doctor has examined you on the day and cannot be given without seeing or making contact with the doctor in some way.
There may be a private charge.

Pathology, CERVICAL SCREENING

We have facilities for taking pathology (blood tests etc.) at the surgery. We use Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology(SNP) for all Pathology testing, couriers collecting 2-3 times daily, this is Bulk Billed to Medicare. On rare occasions some testing is not covered by Medicare and you may be billed. We strive to inform you prior to test if a fee applies, but would advise checking with SNP- email: patientservices@snp.com.au  or Tel 07 3377 8565.
